Troy in northwest Turkey

The city of antiquity was the landscape of Troy in northwest Turkey on Hellespont Pont in Canakkale. The city on the Dardanelles in antiquity controlled access to the Black Sea and brought Troy collected by the Wegzoll wealth. The Iliad by Homer made the ground by the story of the Trojan War world. The city had more far-reaching raids survived but their settlement ended with some severe earthquakes towards the end of the 5 century. The excavations were only in 1988 again occupied by an international team under the German Prähistoriker Manfred Korfmann.
