Love Turkey? Hate Turkey

As most expats will tell you, living in Turkey can be a little difficult. The Turkish culture is not explicit or easy to adapt to. Turks often show acts of kindness and forego their daily paradigms in their dealings with foreigners. Expats living in Turkey thus create comfort zones by avoiding the strains of Turkish paradigms. Unfortunately the normal paradigms that work back home, do not work in Turkey. Assumptions that we use to assess business or social situations and communicate intentions are not valid. Losing mastery of basic situations can lead to a feeling of losing control. Two car bombs killed more than 50 people in Sunni Arab areas of Iraq

Two car bombs killed more than 50 people in Sunni Arab areas of Iraq on Tuesday, a sudden spasm of violence in places which had been comparatively quiet while battles raged in the Shi'ite south. Suspicion in the attacks will fall on al Qaeda, given the Sunni Arab militant group's history of using car bombs. In one of the deadliest strikes in months, one car bomb killed 40 people and wounded 80 outside a provincial government headquarters in Baquba, local capital of Diyala province north of Baghdad, police said.

Police said the blast killed people on the busy streets and in their cars as they were passing the location. Women and children were among the victims.

Airline passengers in European airspace will be permitted to use their mobile phones onboard planes after a new ruling from the European Commission. After in-flight mobile use was tested in French and Australian airspace following a clamour for its introduction from both passengers and the aviation industry, the commission has announced plans to allow the usage of mobile phones above an altitude of 3,000 metres.
The commission's decision will result in a harmonising of technical requirements for safe in-flight mobile usage and could see some airlines introducing services in 2008.
