Glasgow bombers brother in court
In a London court Sabeel Ahmed, the brother of one of the bombers who attacked Glasgow airport last June has pleaded guilty to with-holding information. Sabeel Ahmed is the cousin of Dr Mohammed Haneef who worked in a hospital in the Australian state of Queensland and was briefly detained by police after the attack. Stephanie Kennedy reports Kabeel Ahmed rammed a burning Jeep into the terminal building at Glasgow airport - he suffered 90% burns and he died several weeks later.
Shortly before the attack, he sent his brother Sabeel an email that said he would have achieved his goal by the time the message had been read. It also pointed out he hadn't said anything beforehand for the safety of both his brother and the "project". He appealed to his brother to keep it secret for as long as possible. Sabeel Ahmed has now pleadeed guilty to withholding information and he's been sentenced to 18 months jail - he'll then be deported to India. Sabeel and Kabeel Ahmed are the cousins of Dr Mohammed Haneef. When he left the UK for the Gold Coast, he gave his mobile phone sim card to Sabeel. 11/04/08
