Latest High Street Casualty in UK

Stylo the owner of high street shoe shops Barratts and Priceless have applied to go into administration making them the latest high street casualty of the current financial crisis. Just over 5,000 jobs are now at stake as the 400 stores across the UK look likely to close, this follows fellow shoe retailers Faith and Dolci's as they too went into administration last month in January. Unemployment is estimated to be at the 2 million mark by next year and it was reported this week that there is a decline in Graduate recruitment. Banking executives apologised this week for their role in contributing to the financial breakdown but said they were not to blame and RBS boss said staff bonuses had also been too high.

Carrying Cash In And Out Of the UK

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) announced a new regulation in relation to cash that you may be taking out of, or bringing into, the UK. Before 15 June 2007, there is no legal requirement to declare the cash that you are carrying when you enter or leave the UK, whatever the amount or currency. However, as from that date if you are arriving directly from, or are travelling directly to, a country outside the European Union , and are carrying 10,000 euros or more or the equivalent amount in another currency, you must complete a cash declaration form. These will be available at the port or airport of your entry to, or departure from, the UK. Please read the form carefully before filling it in.

Farewell To Woolworths

What a sad time it is to be saying goodbye to one of Britain's most loved high street chains, everyone must remember going to woolworths with their parents whilst growing up and getting a bag of pic n mix. As you got older you went in for toys and board games then stationary followed by games consoles and mobile phones because Woolworths was always the first stop when you went shopping as they sold everything you could ever need and was always at a reasonable price, it is the end of an era to be saying goodbye to the store for good and a very sad time for the employees that worked there....

Customer bank data found on computer sold on eBay

The confidential financial data of a million UK customers has been found on a computer that was sold on online auction site eBay for £35.88. According to a report by the UK's Daily Mail, a former employee at digital archiving firm Graphic Data sold the computer on eBay without erasing the hard drive. IT manager Andrew Chapman, 56, from Oxford, bought the computer and discovered a treasure trove of private financial information, including names, addresses, sort codes and account numbers, credit card numbers and security data such as mothers' maiden names. Credit crisis in Britain

The current credit crisis in Britain is having an increasing effect on more and more of the British population. What started out as problems in the financial industry has now led to hundreds of people losing their jobs in different sectors of work. The building and property development market are now hugely affected with big job losses and cutbacks in the construction industry. UK, Turkey sign strategic partnership

Prime Minister Gordon Brown Tuesday unveiled details of a strategic partnership with Turkey after holding talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan in London.

Brown said that the partnership agreement would boost trade, security, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. He also reiterated his support for Turkey's accession to the European Union and that he hoped that talks on Turkey joining the EU could "move forward" at the next EU Council summit scheduled for December.
