Lufthansa flights to Bursa in Turkey. German airline Lufthansa will start flying from the German city of Munich to the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa on Aug. 1, raising its number of destinations in Turkey to four, a company statement said Saturday. The airline will fly from Munich to Bursa on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and from Bursa to Munich on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays. Lufthansa already flies to Turkey’s commercial hub, Istanbul, its capital, Ankara, and the popular western city of Izmir.

Operating flights to Turkey since 1956, Lufthansa has the largest share of flights to Turkey among foreign airline companies. By the time it begins service to Bursa, Lufthansa will be operating 73 flights to Turkey per week.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG is a global aviation group operating in five business segments, including the passenger airline business, logistics, MRO, catering and IT services.

The Lufthansa Group includes a total of more than 400 subsidiaries and associated companies. It employed some 118,000 personnel as of the end of 2009 and achieved a total operating revenue of 22.3 billion euros for the year.

However, the best deals may be found with the travel agents. Travel agents will have good deals with accommodation included in their prices. So getting cheap flights to Turkey from the UK may be more cost effective if you book the flight ticket as well as your accommodation via the travel agent.

Considered both an Asian and a European destination (with Africa also nearby), Turkey's history is steeped in various cultures and the country is well worth a visit.

Its ancient ruins, mountainous regions and forested areas make Turkey a great vacation destination for anyone of any age. The amazing mix of cultures and the great food and night life make it a wonderful place for young people, while the excursions and guided tours of ancient sites available also make it a great vacation spot for history as well as pre-history buffs. Its markets and bazaars give an exotic feel to the place, while the relaxed and hospitable atmosphere of its people makes it a welcoming place for visitors.

About Bursa; The city is frequently cited as "Yeşil Bursa" (meaning "Green Bursa") in a reference to the parks and gardens located across its urban tissue, as well as to the vast forests in rich variety that extend in its surrounding region. The city is synonymous with Mount Uludağ which towers behind its core and which is also a famous ski resort. The mausoleums of early Ottoman sultans are located in Bursa and the numerous edifices built throughout the Ottoman period constitute the city's main landmarks.

The surrounding fertile plain, its thermal baths, several interesting museums, notably a rich museum of archaeology, and a rather orderly urban growth are further principal elements that complete Bursa's overall picture. Karagöz and Hacivat shadow play characters were historic personalities who lived and are buried in Bursa. Bursa is also home to some of the most famous Turkish dishes, especially candied chestnuts and İskender kebap. Its peaches are also well-renowned. Among its depending district centers, İznik, historic Nicaea, is especially notable for its long history and important edifices.

Bursa is home to the Uludağ University, and its population attains one of the highest overall levels of education in Turkey. The city has traditionally been a pole of attraction, and was a major center for refugees from various ethnic backgrounds who immigrated to Anatolia from the Balkans during the loss of the Ottoman territories in Europe between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
