A number of new flights have been announced from Robin Hood Airport. Operators Thomson and First Choice will run an extra weekly flight to Monastir, in Tunisia, after launching the route two months ago, as well as an additional weekly flight to Dalaman in Turkey.
Passengers from Finningley will also be able to fly to another Polish city next summer after Wizz Air reintroduced its route to Wroclaw. The announcements come as airport bosses dismissed reports that Robin Hood was up for sale.
As revealed by the Free Press in May, Peel Airports which runs Robin Hood, Liverpool's John Lennon and Teesside airports is seeking a buyer for 49 per cent of its entire business in a bid to develop the firm.
Nick Smillie, aviation sales director for Peel Airports, said: "Robin Hood Airport is not up for sale. The fact Peel was seeking outside investment to help deliver its masterplan, which includes Doncaster Sheffield, came as no surprise to anyone in the business." The flight announcement also comes after the airport has suffered falling passenger numbers.
Mr Smillie admitted it had been a tough winter for Robin Hood but insisted the airport's future was bright.
