Scottish tennis player Andy Murray continued to admirably carry the hopes of his homeland in the fourth round of gentlemen's singles at Wimbledon. Wimbledon has not even had an Scottish player in a Wimbledon final during the open era, but Murray is clearly giving them reason to hope.
The Scottish and English sports fans certainly need something to celebrate after their country's dismal showing at the World Cup in Africa 2010. In his fourth round match Murray faced 18th seeded Sam Querrey, and it was a tough match from the get go.
Andy Murray managed a late break in the first set to win the set 7-5, and then won the following two sets 6-3, 6-4 to earn himself a spot in the quarterfinals.
The crowd at the All England Club was loud throughout, clearly throwing their support behind their countryman. Murray will face his toughest test of the tournament in the quarterfinals where the fourth ranked player in the world Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the tenth seeded player in the tournament from France.
Tsonga dispatched Julien Benneteau 6-1, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 to secure advancement.
