Blackburn have confirmed the signing of Yildiray Basturk from Stuttgart for the rest of the season. Yildiray Basturk joins on loan. Basturk, a Turkish international with 49 caps for his national team, has joined Rovers initially until the end of the 2009-10 campaign and will add a wealth of experience to the ranks having played at the highest level in Europe.

The midfielder revealed that former Ewood favourite Tugay helped convince him to make the move, telling the club website: “I had contact with Blackburn for three months and I spoke to Tugay and he said it is a very good club and to come here and try the last few years.

“I played about fifty games for the national team with Tugay and he always told me how good a club Blackburn is and for the last three or four weeks he has often told me I should take this chance.”

Basturk previously played for the likes of Bayer Leverkusen with whom he reached the 2002 Champions League final, where they lost to Real Madrid – and Hertha Berlin before moving to Stuttgart in 2007.

He was also part of the Turkish side that reached third place at the 2002 World Cup. ESPN
