Two women from Northern Ireland have been found dead near Kusadasi which is only hour away from Izmir, Turkey. They have been reportedly killed over a dispute allowing their daughter to marry. The Turkish waiter is named to be Recep Cetin and was known to both families as Alex and is believed to have worked in a restaurant in Kusadasi to where both families visited regularly during their holidays.
It is said by sources that the bodies of the two women from County Down, Northern Ireland were found in nearby forestland just outside Izmir and a 17 year old, known as the woman’s 15 year old daughter’s boyfriend has been arrested and confessed to the killings.
It has been reported that the case is being investigated that the pair were attached as the girl’s mother refused to allow the young couple to get married.
The Turkish media have named the two women as Marion Graham 54 and Kathy Dinsmore 54. They have also stated that the teenage Turkish waiter took them into the woods before repeatedly stabbing them and cutting their throats.
After police interrogation, he is allege to have told the police officers that he had lured the women into the area by a promise of a tour of Izmir and claimed that he had decided to kill the women because Marion Graham was standing in the way of his marriage to her daughter Shannon.
It is believed that the two women were found after Shannon reported that her mother had not turned up to a planned boat trip off the resort of Kusadasi.
The department of Foreign affairs in Dublin have confirmed that the consulate will be assisting within the investigation and will be making every effort to track down the women’s family members.
Raymond McGuinness, the father of the 15 year girl Shannon has said he has never been fully in favour of the relationship since it stated last summer and “ there was always something not quite right” and has now travelled out to support his daughter and bring both her and her mother’s body home.
The Dinsmore family have released a statement saying of their sorrow and that they are grateful for all the condolences they have received during this difficult time, they have also appealed for privacy.
