Stray Dogs

They were the dogs nobody else you want. Dogs with bite here and hind legs bandy. The dogs that were old or sickly. The injured or abused dogs that some vets have said were just out there help. They were the dogs who have taught a high energy, Type-A personality how to tame her simmering impatience with a few other crucial lessons about success, attitude and overall belief that there is a greater power to work in the universe.

Rally Randi Berger. His fiery red hair, stubborn determination and nature have placed early regardless of the crowd when she was a child. She selected her first puppy from an animal shelter when she was just 7 years. Little did Berger know she would look back later that day as pivotal event in his life, fueling what would develop later into a real penchant for moving eyes, fur and dilapidated dog kisses.

Berger, author of winning book, "My pet re: The diary of a fanatic dog," returned to the same animal shelter as an adult, to select a replacement for his original dog after he disappeared . She was horrified to discover how many dogs euthanized, especially dogs unadoptable of who were older, single or timid.

Compelled to save them all, Berger started in small steps, rescuing dogs from shelters and bringing them home to consolidate back to health or teach them how to trust people again. When they were presentable, she would arrange adoptions for them.

Sounds simple enough, right? Not exactly. You see, Berger did not feel the need to cage the dogs. So she had to ensure that the menagerie of dogs could get along with each other.

Plus, never one to run from a challenge, Berger had a knack for choosing the most difficult dogs or more unattractive, which meant they would be harder to place."If they had the teeth of a male or a broken tail, I could not resist," said Berger. "I found that dog adoptions really honed my salesmanship skills.

My goal was to describe the personality of a dog to a potential adopter over the phone and make them fall in love before they ever laid eyes on the dog. And most often, it worked. "The Salesmanship was not the only skill Berger sharpened by founding one of the animal rescues the most successful in Southern California.

She managed to reign in his temper and sarcasm, all looking to achieve a goal."There were times I would go to shelters and meet with an uncooperative person," said Berger. "My normal reaction would be to knock down a peg with some type of biting commentary.

But in trying to help the dogs, I learned how to hide the irritation. "While anger management is a skill most of us can use some of the most valuable lessons learned Shepherd dogs themselves.

Of more than 10,000 dogs that Berger rescued, she has worked with many dogs that were initially timid, hyper or unfriendly. Through her perseverance and uncanny ability to determine the cause of dog behavior, Berger wound up transforming many strays without value in canine actors.

His work of obedience training and has covered with film and TV roles for some of the dogs that shelter workers, veterinarians, or coaches have seen the main candidates for being put to sleep."The dogs would try to really express their feelings," Berger said. "I had to learn to listen and understand them if they seemed withdrawn, it is because they grieved for their owner.

Some dogs that seemed to change their destructive behavior in the past I Have started working with them and show that I believed in them.

It was a really powerful lesson about the power of our thoughts it showed me that our thoughts that we have the ability to create a better reality for ourselves and our pets. If I believed in them and worked with them, they believed in themselves too. In my mind, a lesson that transcends all areas of our lives.

This belief in not giving in to negative diagnosis that these dogs were worthless shown me that we can all transform some part of our lives for the better.
