The western and Aegean regions of Turkey are already being hit by the new heat wave. In İstanbul, the mercury is predicted to shoot to 40 degrees, but coupled with a 60-percent humidity rate it will feel much higher.
In the Aegean region, the temperatures are expected to range between 39 and 45 degrees. The governorships of İzmir have announced that, due to the heat, any public workers who are either pregnant, disabled or have a cardiac problem will be given official leave.
Top tips for keeping cool in very hot weather include: Stay out of the heat, especially the mid-day sun Always wear a sun hat when outdoors during the day Keep your curtains closed to keep your home cool Cool down with a wet flannel or a cool shower/bath Keep drinking plenty of water and juice avoid alcohol and coffee Ask your doctor for advice if you are worried about coping with the heat Contact older relatives/ neighbours daily to make sure they are ok Do not leave children under the sunshine alone for long tome,
