| Even with Turkey's efficient and extensive bus services we managed to miss the last bus from Marmaris to Bodrum (another seaside town further northwest) and had to spend a fourth night in Marmaris. The next morning we woke bright and early and ended up catching one of the multitude of minibuses that operate adjacent to the major bus companies. Honestly, the transportation system in Turkey is one of the best I have seen (yes, even Germany would have a tough time beating it). The bus companies are located right next to each other offering great deals because they're all competing with each other and service on the buses is better than on many airlines. |

| Nine people were killed and more than 90 injured when a Turkish Airlines plane crashed on Wednesday morning while attempting to land near Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. Turkey’s Transport Minister Binali Yildirim says 135 passengers and eight crew were aboard the Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Amsterdam and local police spokesman J Hage told the news agency that a Turkish Airlines 737-800 had crashed in a field next to a runway. The plane, Flight TK1951, left Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport at 8:22 am whic is 11.52am from Istanbul Airport.. |

| Ive just come home from a brilliant holiday in Didim Altinkum after never being to Turkey before. All family have said that they have had one of the best holidays ever, so much so that we are planning to return next year. The beaches were lovely, the restaurants were great value for money and the atmosphere was very friendly and lively. Having young children and being great animal lovers we also got very attached to the 'street dogs'. They began to recognise us and look forward to having their lunch and some affection. |
