Volcanic eruption from Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull glacier has once again caused closures of flights across UK and Europe. Flights at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick and some others in northern Britain, Scotland, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds were closed. NATS, Britain's air traffic security system, revealed that airports would be closed from early morning 1a.m to 7a.m. In Ireland, Dublin, Shannon and southern Cork were some of the airports affected.

While Dublin and some others are to reopen at different times today, Shannon and southern Cork were open "until further notice." The ash cloud has also caused cancellation of flights across Europe. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport and airports across Germany were also closed.

Schiphol has been closed till 2p.m local time. Germany even sent two test flights from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Lufthansa to check the feasibility of flights.

The flights were flown over parts of UK, Germany and Scandinavia and the data accumulated form the flights was sent to the aviation authorities in the U.K, the Netherlands and Germany.
