Altinkum marina is now officially opened for business. Opened in August 2009 by the Prime minster of Turkey Recep Tayip Erdogan, the marina has been five years in the planning. Costing a total of 55 million dollars to build, the whole resort is buzzing because the marina is expected to bring in 12 months tourism.

The marina has yacht club, a heliport which was actually used by the primeminster to fly into. There is also shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, yacht equipment shops, a fitness centre and sports facilities, banks, a petrol station, and a cultural centre.

The marina in future years will also have ferryboat services to the Greek islands of Kalimnos, Kos and Leros.Hollywood stars are rumoured to have purchased mooring spaces for their yachts and previously owners of yachts that stayed around the greek coast will now venture further afar. In all the future is looking bright for Altinkum.
